Moulds… finished? No way!
What? Another blog post? And still no pictures of the finished case?
Well… yes. but I thought you might be interested in the (good this time!) news we have.
ALL the moulds are finished now! They are currently doing a test injection (we should be getting the results tonight or tomorrow).
If the injection is fine, they’ll ship the sample case via express to Michael. And if he says “Yep, that’s what we want!” they’ll immediately start producing.
And now here’s our special deal: After talking with them, threatening their life and bribing them with more money the Gizmondo guys ever spent… ahem. Well, anyway, they agreed to start immediately and finish 1000 cases until December 1st!
The rest will follow shortly after, but this would mean we can start mass production as planned early december.
Okay, cross your fingers, pray to the mould injection gods and wait for some new pictures!

Wow, by Nov 24th there’s still not a single fully assembled Pandora (coming from the production line).
Production + Assembly + Test + Delivery + Christmas + End of the World; who said “2 more months”?

Tch…I don’t see what you’re getting all worked up about. You know something will be wrong with the mold test. Just watch. They’ll have to say “This final case isn’t exactly right…it needs just one more tweak, and then it’s perfect!” Or with our luck, it won’t event get THAT far. Just watch, the mail will lose it on transit, and Michael won’t even be able to check the final case! Or…

Hmm…Can’t help but notice my pessimistic side had more to say about all this… but that’s okay. I’m leaning more towards optimism now! I see many people opening Pandora’s box in the near future!
Well if they’re going to produce 1000 cases by Dec 1st, that’s also when the 3895 boards will hopefully be done. Given shipping time and assembly time if we don’t see any more delays we’ll hopefully see some Pandoras in customer’s hands in December and before Christmas.

Still, good to hear them continue to chip away at this thing. Can’t wait to see a real picture of one. Hopefully by Christmas we’ll get one.
Great news – although does this mean the packaging and such are done as well? As I’d assume that would also take a bit of time, albeit not much, but…

Anyway it would be nice if they could get some done for christmas so i have my fingers crossed. I can’t help but feel sorry for the girl at pandora hq since I’m sure she’ll have like 3500 emails asking “Am I in the first 1000?” I wont be finding out my number “Taps send on email,lol” I’m sure Ed will be off her christmas card list by the end of the day. I didn’t email btw. I think I’d rather have the surprise.
Good a few will get theirs before xmas but for the majority of us still 2 months
Christmas is only one month away. Even if everything goes smoothly, I wouldn’t expect it to arrive in time. Be nice to be proven wrong though.
At least we should be able to actually see a real one by then.

I knew that they would have to bribe them, heh. Normally I would be anti-corruption, but in this case (pun intended?) involving a company and not a gov’t, I just want to get things done.

I was thinking there would be a delay between the first 1000 going out and the next 3000. Wrong as assemble is the bottleneck and the next 3000 case will be made and shipped whilst the first 1000 are still being built. Just said this below. Can;t past link as this hangs my box (karmic)

i am within the first 210, which jacqueline told me when i updated my address in january. ordered in the first 10 minutes before the website melted.
What about those in the first 2000 after the first 1000, when will we receive our order.
We do not have these answers. Perhaps when the first 1000 are on their way out the door they’ll be able to make an estimate.
There is a good post from ED in the aforementioned topic that explains that the next 3000 cases can be made and slow shipped quicker than 1000 Pandoras can be assembled. Well that’s what I read into it.
Just being curious, could only the first 1,000 ship in December and the rest in January 2010.
