Craig has posted new photos of the parts from the Pandora test injection. Keep in mind that these are test parts, and so aren’t as shiny as the final parts. Here you see the top of the Pandora’s case, with holes for everything. Read more for more photos.

Are we sure that’s a pic of a SD cover? Looks more like the stylus cradle (for lack of a better word) that the stylus slots into. Very very excited by these pics. How soon will we know if they make the grade?!?!
Seconded. I woud have thought the SD cover (hole, really) would be part of the bottom of the case. The slots themselves should either be empty, or have a blank.
The file name is sdcover+stylus.JPG. You be the judge.

Whats that battery lid for? Battery case for spare ones?
It doesn’t have the required buttons like the other ones seen yet and I personally would hate to have “[i] Pandora” everywhere on the system – especially on the bottom which might just hurt you if you slide it in your hands. not too mention scratches on the edges etc.
I think this must be like you say; a case for a spare battery. In the picture there are two assembled cases, a top and bottom face down and a top and bottom face up. Given that the battery pack itself is flexy and somewhat prone to damage, this is kind of awesome.
Have you ever seen what happens with those batteries when they are penetrated by a small piece of iron?

I hope you’re right… I’ll be really pissed if a logo that big is on the outside of the case.
I think they should have used Braille for that logo, if they absolutely want all the blind pandora users to be able to read the name of their device again and again. It would probably even hurt less.

Or this could become another venue of income for team OP, selling logo-less battery covers for those few people who want to play their system without wearing gloves.
This is a serious issue. Some calculators and cheap gamepads have some copyright and/or logo text on the bottom, when you slide your pandora up and down (if you want to reach the shoulder buttons quickly while playing or when you try to move your hands to get to the analog nubs) you can EASILY break your skin as these logos have sharp edges.
If you ever played a PSP with a broken in UMD tray you possibly have have noticed that it really hurts after a while if you play a game where your hands are on the top of the unit (in Burnout for example where you use the shoulder buttons most of the time)
A friend of mine has a white calculator which has red stripes all around the logo as his skin also teared before.
However, as the filename (and the shape) suggests – this is most likely the Battery case.
However, puppydee, I want you to make a video of you, sliding this case up / down for about half an hour – I’d bet your fingers hurt like shit after that.

Dude, this anticipation continues to kill me! The molds are looking phenomenal! We are mere weeks away from receiving our Pandoras!! Hope all goes well. Can’t wait to see whats next!
great! although I thought(and was sort-of hoping) it was going to have matte finish…
MWeston asked them to give the test pieces the final “production” finish before sending them out to him. We don’t know if they did (if so, it probably would have been done after these pics were taken) so fingers crossed. Either way, our production cases will look a lot better.
Just between you and I, I’d settle for an ‘ugly’ case.
This is seriously wonderful news. It’s a pity I’m probably order number 3895 or something like that (I ordered late after some people cancelled).
Sorry, I’m a bit confused, is the over-all finish of the Pandora going to be more like the inside(matte) or outside(glossy, fingerprint magnet) of a NintendoDS? Honestly, I will be happy with the Pandora either way, but if it has a matte finish I’ll be able to spend more time enjoying it and less time polishing, buffing, cleaning, etc.
Please let it be matte… I’m about read y to take to my PSP with a hammer rather than buff that damn oleophilic finish anymore… learn from Sony’s continual mistakes, that they’ve repeated over and over and over again. Matte finish for the win.

The battery cover in particular is a good example of what we’ll get. It’s shinier than the matte inside a DS, but not quite the fingerprint loving piano gloss that every gadget seems to have these days. That’s definitely something they wanted to avoid.

And if so, will you call it matte, or put a wig on it and call it madeleine?
I wish there wasn’t a huge “PANDORA” on the bottom. I would have liked it to feel smooth while holding it
As far as we can tell that’s the battery casing, not the bottom of the Pandora. The actual base is shown in this photo:
