The newly tweaked case parts we’ve so keenly waited for have been photographed at last (at the factory, it would appear). At a glance they don’t look a whole lot different to the last lot, but look closely and you’ll spot the wider LCD slot, and more finesse overall. The next step for these is a journey to Canada, and the unforgiving judgement of Michael Weston – who is probably as eager to say Go as we are to hear it.

Is it just me or does the material used for the Pandora seem ‘lighter’ (flimsier?) than that found on the DS, for example?
the finish just makes it look thicker. These don’t look like they have the real finish on them yet.
Probably just you. The DS looks pretty flimsy when you strip it down to component parts too.

Oh man I really hope these cases get the green light, then the devs can breathe a sigh of relief, and we’ll be closer to getting them. With all the news and videos recently, I’m getting verrrrryy excited again.

Not really, case design still needs to be approved, I estimate mass production of the cases won’t start sometime in January 2010.
Which means: TWO MORE MONTHS (TM).
Im pleased to see progress. It really feels we’re almost there.

I wonder if these have the ‘finish’ or not; consider — if they are made perfectly, but without the finish, he should probably ask them to send them again, but with finish .. how can he authorize thousands of boards, without seeing the actual finish on them? (heck of a risk, what if the finishing process is nasty?) Or does he authorize 1000 (say), to keep people happy .. and then the nightmare of trying to see who wants batch0.0 if those finishes are not optimal?
Lets hope these have finish, or ‘some finish’ enough to make his life an easy choice
If he has to send them back again (then good for him for holding tough on quality), then people will freak out I think ..

MW will do the right thing and we all want a perfect Pandora. 100% behind this. However,
, I still want it yesterday. We all will be have to be patient but some of us may choice to be patient in an impatient manner. :p

What’s going on above what would be the T/Y/U keys – looks like some uneveness still?
That looks loads better. No shrinkage around the thicker parts of plastic. i.e. The screw holes. I’m very pleased with that. Gimmie gimmie!
It’s a real shame the finish doesn’t get a test run like this. I bet as soon as the first ones with finish arrive, they are broken and have to be tweaked as well.
