Panjoust levels up. And up.

A long time ago, a guy called MarkoeZ began thowing together a cheeky adaptation of Joust for the PandoraPanic minigame project. As reported in the recent software roundup, Panjoust has now transcended its humble beginnings to become a standalone title, with a second graphic artist on the team and a sublime soundtrack by Nick May (if you like Ennio Morricone, you’ll like Nick May). The above video, though labelled as just a tech demo, is the first to showcase all these talents in the mix together. This is what homebrew collaboration looks like when it all goes right.

This would have *rocked* if the team had put an accelerometer into the hardware spec
Yeah, I don’t think I like you very much. You stole my frist psot.
You might have made it in time if you had an accelerotemer.
Damn, I think I’m late for work… damn missing accelerometer.
I disagree. I wouldn’t want to play this with an accelerometer. L/R might work, but it would be hard to get U/D working right to not always send the signal, or it would be too easy.
Well, the atari did not have one either. I thought about building one into it at the time, but one of my hands would probably have pushed the floppy disk out. Also i’d have to do some training before i could play a game for more than a couple of minutes, those things are heavy!
Talentz. Pandora gotz it.
(Oh, and FRIST PSOT!!!1)
Ooo! Busted!
It seems to be developing awesomely.
The music is very nice, It would be cool if the app comes with a “submit the map I made” to the main server thing
The music is really nice but the graphics and animation are not so good. The bird for example should have “pointier” wings IMO.
Great constructive input… glad you took the time. Do you have your version of the bird animation? I am sure they’d look at what you made.
no problem! no, i don’t have an animation why would i? oh, you are being a little sarcastic with me. i see. yeah, sure, religion and homebrew games, the two things in the world that you never ever criticize… or you will be beheaded by one of the extremists of the community.
Oh, I’m an extremest? Good to know. Ever heard “put up or shut up?”, maybe that’s extreme… I too also love criticizing free works done by others, while being impudent, and impotent.
That looks very addicting. Bring it on!
Awesome, thanks for attention and kind words
I was wondering why my youtube views suddenly skyrocketed, but this explains much
@ kloplop: I’m hoping the appstore will support something like that. I’m thinking about 2 level sets. One official (for highscore purposes) and one community made.
Small update while i’m posting: Picking up rocks and throwing them on enemies now also works
“(for highscore purposes)”
I don’t suppose you’re going to do some sort of official high score challenge, are you? I’d love to take part in something like that.
[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ’0 which is not a hashcash value.
Wow, love the music in this game
Man does this look good…
I can’t wait…
Meh. No news.
Take it out on OP Ltd if you must, but go easy on the guys who are giving their all to make free software for us.
Could be my sort of game. It would be cool if you can do the backdrops in game the same as the ones used in the menu and the clouds need some work but i know it’s not finished so I wont make any judgements yet. I’ll just say it’s coming along nicely.
This looks fantastic. Thanks for putting this together, I loved Joust back in the day.
testing
Nice! I loved the game when it was at the arcade.
Thank you guys!!!
