Heh, my dad used to have a P800, now he’s got a P990, while I have the P/M-hybrid P1i, following my P905. I used that P905 to play V-rally and some Wipeout clone. That is, before the internal charging components went down and out. Just too bad SE eventually decided to rape and murder the UIQ system, I loved it!
IIRC According to Craig, B-grade means the screen has a silver backing rather than black, which could make ghosting easier to spot and lower the contrast ratio (the b-grade screens having brighter blacks because of this)

Never mind, I see you had problems with comments. Carry on. I do still think that the Pandora’s contrast is one of the worst there. Here’s hoping the actual screen is markedly better.
Also, what does B grade actually mean? Does it definitely mean it’s worse quality than the ones we’re getting?
The contrast is not that bad. If you look at the pictures, the Pandora screen is always tilted. In small LCD screens like the one in GP2X, tilt them, it will look bad as well. I think the real problem here is we do not get a picture of the Pandora in how *WE* would look at the LCD screen.
This brings the question what is the expected viewing angle of the Pandora? The GP2X’s LCD viewing angle is horrible; there is only one angle which you can see the true colors of the game/app.
what’s notaz’ mission anyway? he’s taking bad pictures of the pandora display, moans about ghosting, shows the cracks by the hinge. maybe the devs should have thought twice, before giving him a production-pandora, since all he did for now is devaluation only.
I agree, you’d think he’d try to be a bit more positive. I’d be doing all sorts of different videos and demonstrations. Has he commented on the repsonsiveness of the desktop environment? His view of the different app launcher programs? The touchscreen? If so I must’ve missed it.
Notaz is a wise man and whatever he says is justified, imo.
Biasing info towards the positive without mentioning negative things is counter-productive.
honesty is a very important thing, but it can be placed pros or cons! it’s not urgently necessary, to close up the hingecracks of craigs abuse, for example.
a mix would be great, instead of leaving the mark of trying to imperil the project intentionally.
I know he wouldn’t do such birdbrained things, since he’s a smart guy with lots of talents and as a result of that I even wonder more, why he is putting the pandora into a gloomy corner!?
His mission is Pandora driver development and being a part of the voluntary devs who make Poandora possible in the first place. That’s all I need to know.
He mentioned that the hinge cracks were caused by Craig’s hinge testing.
Never seen a gizmondo before
There’s Only one item here for me.
Sonic-tastic. Also, nice looking d-pad on that GP2X!
I am so ready to get my hands on that thing. I’ve been trying to resist buying a temporary replacement (netbook) during the wait.
That Notaz… I’m gonna go to his house and steal his Pandora… and his 32X while I’m at it!
These shots are such gadget porn… I could print them out and hang them on the walls!

What, no love for the DS?
Nice
Nice pics
What no Tapwave Zodiac? The thing looks a pretty good size for my gigantic hands. Very nice pictures.
Pretty awesome comparison shots!
Nice posts today, Butterman. Though I keep thinking “New post! It must be the cases!”
The contrast seems awful in that photo. And what exactly does B-Grade actually mean?
I’m not bashing, I have paid for a pandora, but notaz’s recent impressions have me reconsidering.
nice collection
Sweeet!
(also 1stpost)
Awesome! Whats up in the third pic though??

this a comment
Edit:
:hwg:
Nice Megadrive.
Is that a custom D-pad on the GP2X?
And why are there B-grade screens in A-grade cases?
that’s not an a-grade case either, it’s the first of the mp revisions (were now on the 3rd)
you guys r incredible. Definately should be getting pandora.

Finally! Real live pictures of the… Gizmondo!
thats the first thing I thought
Looks like someone put colored sand in the Sony Ericsson, and shook it up.
Who deleted my last comment? That’s a bit censorship-happy, don’t you think?
I only said the contrast wasn’t that good…

Pandora uses dictatorship software?
xD (just a joke)

Do I see a programmable Megadrive cartridge?
I didn’t even know they made those…

here is where you can get programble Megadrive carts
He killed the hinge!

my point of view.

Thumbs up for honesty!
yeah that’s true, but he focused on negative points which are in no way relevant to the final device, and that’s just stupid.

I don’t see a gloomy corner anywhere
Nice to see SonyEricsson P800 is still alive. I had one of them about 8 years ago…
Seems the Pandora screen looks really bad in photos (not just this one either).
I might still be playing my GP2X if I had one with a d-pad like that. That’s tight.
