A micro update from EvilDragon’s Twitter account.
We got a tracking number! It’s not yet in the UPS system (always takes some time, even longer in China). Good news, I’ll keep you updated!

What does this mean? Estimated days on arrival anyone?
It’ll take them maybe six days to arrive with MWeston. They’re pretty confident that no more fixes will be required… fingers crossed eh!

Yeah, they did say they were gonna give us the tracking number for this in a previous news post, didn’t they?
It was decided against it, because an unscrupulous person could alter the destination.

Why the bloody hell not? Wasn’t this discussed in the past? Why did they change their minds?

More seriously, it isn’t the best idea to allow hundreds/thousands of people to F5 UPS’ tracking system till it breaks
I understand this sentiment, though I’ll mention that I once tried to change my shipping address on UPS, and was completely unsuccessful, even though I had the right to.
However, what about a compromise? I trust gruso, butterman, chip, and the other mods/blog writers/PR people, could some of them get the tracking number, and be able to post shipping updates, while the dev team is able to focus on other things?
I’m sure that ED is at least as excited as the rest of us and will continue posting tweets with status updates. It’s a matter of seconds to check the status. Problem already solved

Where are you getting that? I was under the impression that there will only be a small number of sample cases made. None of these are going around production Pandoras, after all.
I’ll hold off getting excited till some finished units make it out into the wild, then I’ll probably wet my pants and faint. Nearly close now though so I’m happy
Can someone explain to me why everyone’s so excited?
It shipped today and it takes ~6 workdays to arrive. That makes it the 11th.
The chinese company said it needs the green light on the 8th. There is no possible way this deadline can be met. Even IF they would start on the 8th or 9th, we know these chinese company guys already. They give deadlines they can’t meet! They wouldn’t be able to produce those 4000 cases, judging from previous experience with them.
Yes we could be happy to have like 1000 cases made before new year, but all 4000? It seriously won’t happen.
That is, if the chinese don’t get paid extra for working in holidays, something that ED said in the german board is possible. Then I could understand the excitement. But maybe they will just prefer spending time with their families.
