The 2010 Pandora Angst Coding Competition
February 8, 2010
Posted by: gruso

Introducing the Pandora Angst Coding Competition, an adventure in creativity/distraction devised and funded by the community. Entries are invited for GP32, GP2X, Wiz, and Dingoo (native or Dingux) games & applications, with a current prize pool of around $400AUD on offer. If you’re not a coder but you’d like to get involved, you can donate to the prize pool, offer your services as a judge, contribute splash screen artwork, or hook up with a coder and collaborate!
For full details & entry form, head to the 2010 PACC website!
Interesting, this should help start us up with some great Pandora apps.
Although it looks like Pandora isn’t included in the comp?
WTH, Your right! Why name it the Pandora Angst if its not going to be for the Pandora?
Weird anyway…
Green light Whoooo!
love the picture

I suggest that you can also help design a game.
Even though Pandora isn’t specifically included in the comp, any decently written open-source game is going to be cross platform to a large extent. No having access to any of those platforms, I would write my game on a linux PC with the Pandora in mind, then after it’s working well I could ask someone to try it on the Foo box, and make whatever small porting effort might be required.
Would anyone like to help me design / write a game? Maybe you have some idea for a dream game you’ve always wanted to see… I’m not very experienced at writing games but I’ve written lots of other stuff including some animated graphics and audio demos, so I think that a game is well in reach. Probably something 2d not 3d because I don’t know much GL yet.
My son Sean (2) is keen on trains, so maybe we could make some sort of train game? I like to use realistic physics and vector graphics. But anyway, let me know. I’m not sure if the competition allows team submissions, but it would be fun to write a game as a small team anyway, regardless of possible prize money!
I’m down with doing a game design. I am a professional game designer (I currently work for a major MMO company), I’d love to see one of my games on the Pandora. I’m not much of a coder, I’m afraid, but I can write design docs and create content like a madman.

It all depends on what kind of game you are up to doing, I have tons of game ideas, new and recycled from my old projects. I’d prefer something 2D that’s quick to pick up and play for a short bit.
Hey, I sent an e-mail to you paul. I might be interested in helping with the game as well, I do mostly programming and music. My e-mail is my username on here @gmail.com . Sam, what’s yours?

I was actually tossing up whether or not to include the pandora but since there aren’t enough in the wild. It would be hard for coders to dev for it and even hard for me and others to judge the entries.
Maybe I should of included the gizmondo SirListerOfSmeg? I know that little machine needs some love. I still have mine.
Very clever idea … I’m happy to see that cool headed folks still hang around here
Is there any way to update your entry after submitting it? And is it also allowed to make our own splash using the existing graphics (as I would like to have mine in 3D if I submit anything)?
I think the homepage misses some more details and contact infos

I wont judge the entries until after the deadline so you can keep updating your entry and I will use the newest version. Splash screen is open slather you can do whatever you like as long as it has the required info.
Check the webpage for the required info.
