EvilDragon has been hard at work making those videos that we all love. First off, he shows us how easy it is to switch between GUIs as well as some Atari ST emulation. Then, after the jump he shows us some Amiga emulation using UAE (which runs flawlessly).
We are back =D
That looks fantastic ED!
I’m excited to play around with the OS! The GUIs are looking really nice as they are now, even if there are still some bugs to work out.
Hopefully there will be an elegant solution for viewing and editing powerpoint files. I would love to be able to use this to make quick notes on lecture slides during class.
For that, I use Xournal. It allows you to add sketches and text over any PDF (so just save those powerpoint files as PDFs to use them). It’s in the Angstrom repositories and runs flawlessly on my Touch Book, so it should be easy to get on the Pandora.
Nice! I will definitely make use of that!
its these videoes that keeps me from cancelling my order. i love the os-stuff.
good work, humble dragon.
keep these coming if you want the masses pleased. its the only antidote to pandora-panic.
Both of the videos are very impressive.
The menu needs accelerated scrolling (as in Android), where you can flick it fast and it will keep scrolling rather then just stop.
Also, what’s with ScummVM loading when he didn’t really press it? It wasn’t as if he accidentally tapped it either, seems like there are still tweaks to be done.
The UI seems fairly responsive, so that should be fine. I just hope the minor annoyances (like accidental launches and time-consuming scrolling) are ironed out, rather than just dismissed as non-issues.
I like… ( ̄ω ̄ )
I tell you what, the Amiga games still look fantastic even after all this time. They made some cracking timeless games that would give the DS a run for it’s money. I LOVE the Amiga. Can’t wait to dust of my games again. Played a few on the gp2x but it’ll be so much better on the pandora especially with the keyboard, nubs and a proper dpad. Cheers for the vids Ed. Would like to see some more Amiga vids if you get some free time
Amiga emulation is the number one reason i’ll be purchasing. A veritable history of gaming in my pocket? That’s been my dream for about a decade now!
I am VoLc4n0 and you have not seen the last of me!
No, I’M VoLc4n0….
No I’M the Batman.

I lol’d, Gruso!
أنا باتمان
No! I’m Spartacus and I’ll here no more of it.
What was the name of the 2nd Amiga game?
Superfrog!
Looks brill with the use of the pandora button and all
I already feel like a super geek
Wow. All three GUI’s look awesome. I was dead set on only using XFCE, but not I think I’m torn. I still prefer the the desktop mode of XFCE, but the netbook launcher is sort of looking like smartphone menuing and Pmenu is looking more like console specific (psp and DS).
Man this thing is going to be SWEET when it launches. Plus I am completely oblivious to Amiga and Atari ST games, so there is a generation of stuff I haven’t played yet!!
March is looking good.
Hey, what’s that Stylus EvilDragon is using?
Are there metal-shafted styluses available that are compatible with the Pandora’s stylus slot?
Nope, I just forgot my Pandora Stylus at home
Maybe it’s just the screen I’m watching this on, but the pandora’s screen looks *really* good.
Your voice sounds like it would fit perfectly on a muppet…awesome.
The Newest Muppet Evil “Pandora” Dragon
My first post on these pages, but I have been following the Pandora project with interest..
As soon as I see Amiga A1200 AGA emulation running at a decent speed on the Pandora I’m ordering one!!
I like many others have waited years for a pocket Amiga, and this looks like it could be it
Any idea how long it will take the second batch of Pandora’s to be made after the first lot are dispatched?
We don’t even know when the first batch is going to be ready. They’ve given us a wide range of different answers about the second batch. I wouldn’t hold your breath for anytime soon.
Sweet, I remember playing Turrican 1 2 & 3 for hours on my good old Amiga 500, can’t wait to get that porty Amiga in my pocket …!!!
I noticed that double clicking in this video looks much easier than in the previous os videos. Is it because the screen has been calibrated?
Can’t say for sure, but it’s possible they’ve refined things.
