Twitter: Pandora app tracker, more OS updates

We still haven’t been let in the front door of the app store (name pending), but as of today we can follow progress from a slightly different angle. Craig was wedged a Twitter API into his store code, giving followers a live feed of new additions to the catalogue. You can follow the dedicated Twitter account, or if you think Twitter is dumb, just grab the RSS feed.

EvilDragon has also been turning over the tweets, with a string of OS updates over the past week:

Standby mode working, battery LED blinks on low power, shuts down on critical power and display goes off when closing lid. Thanks devs!

A quick way to run an app: Press Pandora-Button, type in part of the name and press Enter. Works nicely in latest OS with XFCE4 :D

Wooot, fullspeed movieplaying (not yet hardware accelerated) with the current image for DVD Quality movies. Okay, 720p x264 doesn’t work ;)

Just finished keymapping for X11. Now ALL keys do work fine. The buttons are mapped to Pg Up / Pg Dn, Home, End for easy text editing :)

Oh, and Shift + Upper Firebutton is mapped to Compose key, so people can now also type special characters (tested and working fine).

  1. any way of actually seeing this appstore-thing?

  2. Cool but… I just wish some news about the plastic cases.
    It’s probably because they don’t have any I suppose…

Can’t believe plastic is harder to conceive than 4000 mother boards and tweaking Ångström. :(

  3. What is the score on the case front gruso? I know craig said they’re back at work and I think someone said it’ll take about a week to knock out the 10,000 cases so what’s happening? As far as i can tell they did do some cases before they shut for newyear but have they continued, is there an eta? a week, a month? are they are there way!(Would be cool) This is not a moan, it’s just a pursuit for knowledge :)

    • I believe craig said we’d have news at the end of the week on the case front

    • It’s unlikely that they did any before the new year.
More interesting to me is how the factory (supposedly) promised to package/ship the first thousand cases so we could get started without having to wait for all of the cases to be packaged up.
I don’t feel like searching for the quote, but I’m not especially hopeful that the factory will follow through.

  4. I prefere identi.ca that can crossposting to twitter

  5. kind of stupid putting in a app store and asking people to pay for the stuff when you have a install base of 4000~.

not to mention some of the stuff on there you would have to get permission to sell..

    • Charging for software is optional. Everything you’d expect to get for free probably still will be.

  6. Er, nobody else noticed the wonky headline?

    • Haha, oops. I had to read it three times before I saw it.

  8. Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now. Keep it up!
And according to this article, I totally agree with your opinion, but only this time! :)
