Some promising news from our favourite Dragon. If you live near DaveC, buy that man a beer!

Hi folks! You’ve been waiting for the weekly report, haven’t you? Well, I’ve been very very busy with various things, so I coldn’t catch up with everything until now. And I’ve got some short but really good news for you:

Dave finished every single step which was on the ToDo-List of the case!

This does mean, that the case moulding could start REALLY soon. We’re currently waiting for a review from the company – and will tell you more about the status as soon as we get some more information!

Oh, on a side note, most parts for the boards have arrived in Dallas (95%). This means that mass production for the full 4000 run can most probably start as soon as we give them a green light (which means: After we tested the 105 boards).

Official Blog: It has begun, sort of.

An update from EvilDragon on the official blog.

We placed our order for the production run of the first 105 boards today!

Yes, it’s really happening. Production of the boards does take about 4 weeks from now on, around July 24th (they need to be shipped to us), the first REAL boards will arrive. One of it could be yours, as those boards will be used in final units!

On the case side, things are still being worked on, but the to-do list is getting shorter and shorter.

It’s really hard to say how long DaveC still needs to work on this, as he has very little time, but he is barely doing anything else except going to work and working on the case… thanks for that, Dave!

That’s our short snippet for today, I’ll keep you updated when more stuff happens.

Some forum Q&A with Craig

Artist's Impression

Weekend updates are always a treat, even if you have to wait until Monday to get them. Some feisty forumers caught Craig in a chatty mood on Saturday, and eeked out some juice on where we’re at with cases and things. In short, the final two items of focus are hinge testing (because Open Pandora doesn’t want to pull a DS on you) and d-pad height (because DaveC cares about d-pads more than you’ll ever know). From a quality point of view, these things are good things. Rather than paste a few quotes here, we recommend you click through and read the entire thread – context being golden, and all that.

Hear it all from the horse’s mouth here.
