Beat2X released!

June 24, 2010

A screenshot of the game beat2x
Beat2x, a DDR-style game, similar to StepMania, has been ported to the Pandora by PokeParadox.
Some of you might already know it from the GP2X, for which the game has been available for a while.
It’s called a “quick port”, but does run full-speed on the default 500 MHz, so dust off your dance costume and go wild!

PandoraPanic! just got better

June 17, 2010
Posted by: foxblock

The PandoraPanic! team around PokeParadox has been very busy in the past few weeks fixing the occurring bugs after the initial release. While the non-patched release candidate still is playable with all its joy and glory, you might want to consider updating to the NEW and IMPROVED bugfix4 titled release to not miss out on some of the (previously not attainable) achievements.

Additionally, you are invited to share your comments and ideas about the game and in case you are a C++ developer (or want to become one) you can create your own small game for the collection and carve your name in the Hall-of-Fame of PandoraPanic! contributors. Just hit the “More information” link at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions.

The team is constantly searching for new ideas for games and achievements, too! So in a case of sudden inspiration give them a shout by replying to the forum topic linked below.

Ah, PandoraPanic, you’ve come so far. Since 2008 we’ve watched you grow, and it’s almost time to set you free. It’s a little bit sad, isn’t it? Hell no. It’s brilliant. Thanks to the tireless efforts of PokeParadox, MarkoeZ and a solid crew of contributors, PandoraPanic is ready for release. To mark the occasion, Foxblock has cut together a very tidy release trailer (and yeah, he knows about the typo). If you can’t wait to play PandoraPanic on the hardware you’re waiting for, play it on some you already have.

A long time ago, a guy called MarkoeZ began thowing together a cheeky adaptation of Joust for the PandoraPanic minigame project. As reported in the recent software roundup, Panjoust has now transcended its humble beginnings to become a standalone title, with a second graphic artist on the team and a sublime soundtrack by Nick May (if you like Ennio Morricone, you’ll like Nick May). The above video, though labelled as just a tech demo, is the first to showcase all these talents in the mix together. This is what homebrew collaboration looks like when it all goes right.

PandoraPanic puts the call out

Remember Alf? He’s back, in pog form. Remember PandoraPanic? It never left. The WarioWare-inspired community project has been bubbling away in the background for the past year, absorbing new talent and minigames along the way. Recent developments include some retrolicious 16 bit graphics from Dragons_Slayer, and a WIP gameplay video from Rockthesmurf. Ubiquitous porting machine Pickle even has his hat in the ring.
