Until last week it was looking like we’d be SNESless on day one, as we waited for a white knight to prepare one of the builds we’ve already seen for public consumption. So what do you do when all your white knights are busy? Dial S for Skeezix, of course. In the name of day one righteousness, he’s gone and done a quick port of Snes9x (Dingoo version) and it’s available to download now.

If this is your first visit to the file archive in a while, or ever, check out the list of releases in the left hand column. Everything added since March this year is in PND format, ready to download and run. Time to start prepping those SD cards? Yes.

Well, the last week has been pretty slow as far as new videos, but today MWeston delivers the goods! F-Zero, Mario Kart, and Donkey Kong all get plenty of time as our main hardware man shows off Cpasjuste’s port of a GP2X SNES emulator after the break. According to MWeston this is a straight port, with little to no optimization involved, but it’s already eminently playable. Great work!

You’ve seen it on Engadget, Crunchgear, Hackaday, and the rest. But what those guys don’t know is that we saw it first on GP32X. Yay us. For those who came in late, the snega2usb is a USB interface for SNES and MegaDrive/Genesis carts, allowing to you run your own games in an emulator (on PC, or Pandora) direct from the cartridge! But packed with science and magic as it is, the one thing it lacks is a good, snappy name. So creator Matthias_H has put the call out for a new moniker, with the best suggestion winning a snega2usb prototype!

If you’d like to enter, visit the snega2usb blog and submit your entry via email. Please do not post your suggestions in the comments below; they will be ruled out instantly. Get2it!
