EvilDragon is pumping out the new material today, with two new videos and a roundup of the nub situation. The gist of the blog post is that we may be about to see the last of the nub holdups, and a more consistent flow of completed boards out of Texas. Amen to that.

Well, quite a few things have happened, so here is another update for you.

1. All about the nubs

In case you didn’t know yet: Quite a few nubs had problems right from the beginning (a failure rate of 20 – 25% is just inacceptable!) and even some of the working ones have failed a while later (though not too many, thankfully).

Buy a little something, win a Pandora!

August 19, 2010
Posted by: gruso

This may well be the first (unofficial) store to sell USB accessories tested on a Pandora, and as part of their launch, they’re giving away the Pandora the accessories are being tested on! To be in with chance, you’ll need to spend at least 10GBP/10EUR/15USD or 500THB (before shipping) at www.panda-usb.com before September 16th. The catalogue is a bit thin at the moment, but they’re testing and adding more things by the day. Note: Before jumping in with your cash, do read this forum thread for the complete story behind this promotion, and what exactly is being given away.

When a new device arrives, it’s only natural to plug everything you can into every available port. Well, hopefully it is, because that just what many Pandora owners are doing. This latest roundup comes courtesy of Alerino, who did his best to try them all at once.

EvilDragon reports on firmware status

November 24, 2009

As Pandora tiptoes its way towards public consumption, EvilDragon delivers a solid state of the nation on all things firmware related, giving first batchers a good idea of what to expect. Things have certainly come a long way, but there will be some beta-ish aspects to the firmware that will continue to be polished as units go out into the wild. Booting is on the slow side for now, and we shouldn’t expect the suspend-to-RAM function to be ready out of the box (see end of article for more on this). On the up side, USB peripherals, wifi, Bluetooth, .pnd recognition, and a first-boot setup wizard are just some of the things that are hot to trot.

Give snega2usb a better name, win one

snega2usb

You’ve seen it on Engadget, Crunchgear, Hackaday, and the rest. But what those guys don’t know is that we saw it first on GP32X. Yay us. For those who came in late, the snega2usb is a USB interface for SNES and MegaDrive/Genesis carts, allowing to you run your own games in an emulator (on PC, or Pandora) direct from the cartridge! But packed with science and magic as it is, the one thing it lacks is a good, snappy name. So creator Matthias_H has put the call out for a new moniker, with the best suggestion winning a snega2usb prototype!

If you’d like to enter, visit the snega2usb blog and submit your entry via email. Please do not post your suggestions in the comments below; they will be ruled out instantly. Get2it!
